'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory completed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
